WALL RETURNS TO CARRERA CUP CHALLENGE

MOST COMPETITIVE CARRERA CUP IN HISTORY WILL SEE DAVID WALL BACK AT THE WHEEL OF A PAYCE PORSCHE

Sporting His Dad's #38, Wall Makes First Appearance in the Series in Over Five Years.

The 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia series promises to be one of most the exciting instalments in the yearly event's history, noted Mr Brian Boyd.

"It's one of the most competitive one-make categories in the world and is currently contested in eight countries," said driver David Wall, who is returning to the event after a several year hiatus. He performed well in the category from 2008 to 2010, and says the series remains one of his fondest racing memories.

PAYCE Livery - striking on the track.

This year Wall will be driving a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (type 991), in the dazzling red and white livery of PAYCE, his sponsor for the event.

PAYCE's Managing Director, Brian Boyd, a seasoned pillar of Australian motorsport, says he is happy to have Wall back at the wheel of a PAYCE Porsche.

"I know David is excited to be behind the wheel of a Porsche again and the car will have the benefit of first-class preparation by the David Wall Racing team," Boyd said.

Wall has always enjoyed his career in racing, according to Boyd, and this return marks a major development for him on the Australian front.

"The cars running in Australia are exactly the same specification as those racing in the category around the globe.

"It will be interesting later in the year when some of the cars and drivers competing in the Asia-based series line up against our teams at Sydney Motorsport Park," he said.

A Solid Track Record.

Since Wall's performance in past events has been tip-top, the stars seem aligned for Wall to make a strong showing this year.

"He excelled in the GT and TT series, winning The Australian GT Championship in 2008 and 2010 and the Australian Tourist Trophy Championship in 2009 and 2010 in a Porsche 911 GT3," Boyd said.

"When he last raced in the Carrera Cup he was extremely competitive, from the time he was named Rookie of the Year in his maiden year and over the next two years.

"He also did well in the V8 Supercars where the lap time between the pole-sitter and the rest of the field was often less than half a second. It won't be surprising to see him back there for the V8 Supercar enduros," Boyd continued.

A Family Legacy.

According to Boyd, this year's Carrera Cup will also carry special significance for Wall, given that he'll have the opportunity to pay homage to his family's rich lineage in the motorsport tradition.

"It's great that David will be driving a car with number 38 on its side; that was the number his father Des used to race with, and both men have won championships with it," he said.

The younger Wall took after his dad from the start, showing driving promise very early on.

"I've seen David evolve as a kid and young adult through a range of stages, from go-karts to sports cars and during the past few years as part of top-of-the-line V8 Supercars teams; Brad Jones Racing, Dick Johnson Racing and Garry Rogers Motorsport are some examples that come to mind", Boyd added.

Getting In Shape for the Big Day.

As primed as Wall is to perform well, this year's competition will make a win no easy feat. He's been working hard to make sure he can deliver his best showing yet at the Carrera Cup.

"We had a very successful day at the Sydney Motorsport Park pre-season test day on February 10 and learnt a lot about setting the car up. I was happy with the times we laid down and can't wait for the first round at Clipsal in Adelaide", Wall said.

"I am very grateful for the support of all my sponsors, especially PAYCE and Wilson Security who have been with me for many years and are now behind my campaign in the Carrera Cup."

And, to hear Boyd say it, PAYCE is just as proud to have one of their star drivers back at the wheel.

The field line up for the first round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia series will take place at the Clipsal 500 meeting in Adelaide on 5–8 March.
