Australian Trans Am Series

In Australia, the Australian Trans-Am evolved from a Queensland-based motor racing series established in 2009 to celebrate that classic period of Trans-Am racing - the Mt Panorama Circuit of the Bathurst 1000 and the Muscle Cars of the late 60`s, early 70`s.

Australian Trans-Am is open to 2-door, 4-seat, rear wheel drive, V8 powered American production vehicles built from 1963 - 1974, so you will see heritage vehicles from the day, such as second-gen Camaros, 1970 Mustangs, Plymouth Cudas, AMC Javelins, and Pontiac Firebirds.

Australian Trans-Am rules are based on those of the original SCCA Trans-Am Series, though with some modifications to help retain costs. Just as in the SCCA Trans-Am, all Australian Trans-Am races have a rolling start.

Australian Trans-Am races predominantly at Queensland Raceway and the historic Lakeside Raceway. However, the first ever interstate round is to be held at the 2014 Muscle Car Masters at Eastern Creek in time for Fathers Day in September 6-7th, further expansion interstate is expected.

The Muscle Car Masters is a celebration of Australia`s Muscle Car Heritage, racing events cover retro categories including Touring Car Masters, Heritage Touring Cars from the Group C/A Bathurst era, Historic Touring Cars, Production Sports Cars and F5000 V8 open-wheel racing cars. Special Hot Lap sessions are conducted for cars considered too precious and valuable for racing.
